RainTech LLC

Limited Warranty Terms

These Limited Warranty Terms apply only to products and services expressly identified by RainTech LLC (“RainTech”) as carrying a RainTech Limited Warranty. The applicable warranty period should be shown on the customer's invoice, receipt, product listing, service order, or other sales documentation.

These terms do not limit any rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.

1. Warranty Period

The warranty begins on the date the customer receives the product or completed service unless otherwise stated in writing.

The applicable warranty duration will be identified on the invoice, receipt, service order, or product listing.

Examples may include:

  • Refurbished computer: stated limited hardware warranty
  • Repair service: stated workmanship warranty
  • Replacement part: warranty period stated on the invoice
  • Custom-built computer: warranty period stated on the invoice, with manufacturer warranties applying separately to eligible components

If no RainTech warranty period is expressly stated on the applicable sales documentation, no additional voluntary RainTech warranty period should be assumed beyond rights provided by applicable law.

2. Refurbished Product Coverage

For refurbished products sold with a RainTech Limited Hardware Warranty, RainTech warrants that the covered product will be substantially functional for its intended ordinary use during the stated warranty period.

Subject to the exclusions below, covered failures may include defects involving components that were installed in or sold as part of the device at the time of sale, such as:

  • Motherboard
  • Processor
  • Memory
  • Internal storage
  • Cooling system
  • Internal charging hardware
  • Display
  • Keyboard
  • Trackpad
  • Internal Wi-Fi or Bluetooth hardware
  • Other internal hardware specifically listed as covered

Coverage applies only to failures RainTech determines are the result of a covered hardware defect and not an excluded condition.

3. Repair Workmanship Coverage

For repair services expressly sold with a RainTech workmanship warranty, RainTech warrants the specific labor performed by RainTech for the stated warranty period.

If RainTech determines that the original repair failed because of RainTech workmanship, RainTech may, subject to applicable law:

  • Reperform the covered repair
  • Repair the affected component
  • Replace an applicable component
  • Provide another appropriate remedy

The workmanship warranty applies only to the specific repair or service originally performed.

For example, replacement of a charging port does not create warranty coverage for an unrelated motherboard, battery, display, storage, software, or accidental-damage issue.

4. Replacement Parts

Replacement parts may be:

  • New
  • Refurbished
  • Used
  • OEM
  • Aftermarket
  • Equivalent compatible parts

The type used may depend on availability, customer authorization, and what is stated on the estimate or invoice.

Any applicable manufacturer or supplier warranty is separate from RainTech's workmanship warranty unless RainTech expressly states otherwise.

RainTech will not represent an aftermarket or refurbished component as new or OEM unless it actually is.

5. Batteries

Unless a specific battery warranty is stated on the invoice or listing, batteries are treated as consumable components whose capacity naturally decreases with age, charging cycles, temperature, and use.

Normal battery-capacity degradation is not considered a hardware defect under this Limited Warranty.

A battery may be covered when RainTech specifically replaced or sold the battery and the invoice states a warranty applicable to it.

Battery runtime estimates are not guaranteed because actual runtime varies based on workload, brightness, applications, battery condition, power settings, and other factors.

6. Cosmetic Condition

Refurbished and used products may contain cosmetic wear consistent with their disclosed condition grade.

Examples include:

  • Scratches
  • Scuffs
  • Small dents
  • Finish wear
  • Keyboard shine
  • Minor discoloration
  • Label residue
  • Other cosmetic imperfections disclosed or reasonably consistent with the device's grade

Material undisclosed damage discovered immediately after purchase should be reported to RainTech as soon as reasonably possible.

7. Software

Unless expressly stated otherwise, RainTech's Limited Hardware Warranty does not cover software-related problems including:

  • Operating-system corruption
  • Malware or viruses
  • Customer-installed software
  • Driver conflicts caused after delivery
  • Third-party updates
  • Account or password problems
  • Microsoft, Apple, Google, or other third-party account issues
  • Game or application compatibility
  • Third-party software licensing issues
  • Data loss caused by software or user actions

RainTech may provide separate paid software-support services.

8. Data

Customers are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important data.

Service, diagnosis, operating-system installation, storage-device replacement, malware removal, refurbishment, and other technical work can involve a risk of data loss.

Unless RainTech expressly agrees in writing to provide a specific backup or data-transfer service, customers should assume that important data must be backed up before service.

A RainTech warranty does not constitute a guarantee that customer data can be recovered or preserved.

9. Exclusions

To the extent permitted by applicable law, RainTech's voluntary Limited Warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

  • Drops, impacts, crushing, or physical abuse
  • Liquid exposure or corrosion
  • Fire, heat, environmental damage, or contamination
  • Power surges or improper electrical sources
  • Improper chargers, power adapters, or accessories
  • Customer modification
  • Unauthorized repair or disassembly after RainTech service
  • Overclocking or unsupported configuration changes
  • Installation of incompatible components
  • Malware or malicious software
  • Theft or loss
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Consumable wear
  • Cosmetic wear disclosed at sale
  • Accidental damage
  • Improper storage or transport
  • Misuse
  • Damage caused by third-party peripherals or accessories
  • Problems unrelated to the original covered repair
  • Conditions specifically disclosed as excluded before sale or repair

10. Tampering or Subsequent Repair

Opening or modifying a device does not automatically void every warranty right that may exist under applicable law.

However, RainTech may deny a particular warranty claim when inspection shows that the claimed failure was caused by subsequent modification, unauthorized work, damaged components, improper installation, tampering, or another excluded condition.

11. Device Locks and Accounts

The warranty does not cover loss of access resulting from:

  • Forgotten passwords
  • BitLocker recovery requirements
  • Apple Activation Lock
  • Microsoft Autopilot, Intune, or Entra enrollment
  • Mobile-device-management enrollment
  • Google or Chrome enterprise enrollment
  • BIOS or firmware passwords not created by RainTech
  • Third-party account restrictions

Any organizational or ownership lock discovered after sale should be reported to RainTech promptly.

If RainTech unintentionally sells a device that remains locked to a previous organization or owner and the condition prevents ordinary use, RainTech will evaluate the issue and provide an appropriate remedy consistent with applicable law and these terms.

12. Warranty Claim Procedure

To request warranty service, the customer should contact RainTech and provide:

  • Name
  • Original invoice or receipt when available
  • Device or ticket number
  • Description of the problem
  • When the problem began
  • Relevant photos, videos, or error messages when available

RainTech may require inspection of the device before determining whether the condition is covered.

Customers should not authorize another repair provider to modify the equipment before RainTech has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect a claimed warranty issue unless immediate action is reasonably necessary.

13. Warranty Diagnosis

A warranty claim is not automatically considered approved when a device is submitted.

RainTech will diagnose the reported issue and determine whether:

  • The original repair failed
  • A covered component failed
  • The issue is unrelated
  • Accidental or external damage occurred
  • A software issue is responsible
  • Another exclusion applies

RainTech will explain the determination to the customer when reasonably practicable.

14. Remedy

For a valid claim under RainTech's voluntary Limited Warranty, RainTech may provide an appropriate remedy permitted by applicable law, which may include:

  • Repair
  • Reperformance of service
  • Replacement with the same or reasonably comparable item
  • Refund or credit where appropriate

Replacement parts or products may be new, used, or refurbished unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed.

A replacement device does not necessarily restart the original warranty period unless RainTech states otherwise in writing or applicable law requires otherwise.

15. Third-Party Manufacturer Warranties

Some products or components may still carry a manufacturer warranty.

Manufacturer warranties are administered under the manufacturer's own terms.

RainTech may assist customers with identifying manufacturer warranty options but does not control whether a manufacturer approves a claim.

16. Returns and Warranty Claims Are Different

This Limited Warranty addresses defects and covered failures. It does not create a general right to return a product simply because the customer changes their mind.

Any return or exchange rights are governed by RainTech's separate return/refund policy and applicable law.

17. Business Use

Unless otherwise stated, the RainTech warranty shown on the customer's invoice applies to the covered product or service regardless of whether the purchaser is an individual or business, subject to any specific business-service agreement.

Managed IT services, business projects, equipment deployments, bulk purchases, or negotiated commercial transactions may instead be governed by a separate written agreement.

If a separate signed agreement conflicts with these general warranty terms, the specific written agreement controls to the extent permitted by law.

18. Limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, RainTech's voluntary warranty is limited to the specific product, component, or service identified as covered.

RainTech does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that electronic equipment will never experience another failure.

Some legal rights and implied warranties may exist independently of this written warranty and may not be excluded or shortened by these terms.

Nothing in this Limited Warranty is intended to waive or restrict rights that cannot legally be waived under California or federal law.
